MEIMELALI.COM: Bali Police Catches Boat Transporting People To Java During Travel Ban.
Bali Police have caught a boat that attempted to transport people to Java during the recent international travel ban.
As The Bali Sun previously reported the central government decided to implement an domestic travel ban during Eid Al-Fitr celebration that was from the 6th to 17th of May 2021. But apparently, many neglected the fact that it’s almost impossible to trick authorities by avoiding the normal way to travel and taking water transportation instead.
As a result, 12 people who planned to travel to East Java by boat during the travel ban were stopped by the coastal police officers on Tuesday evening (11/5). After being captured, they admitted that before starting their trip, they gathered at one of the mans’ houses named Samsuri that was located in Sumberklampok Village Gerokgak, Buleleng and then began their boat trip to avoid officers on land. Thankfully, the boat that was transporting 12 people including 2 children and 5 motorbikes was spotted by coastal police officers from Buleleng Police Department.
“They admitted that they attempted to go back to their hometown by a rented boat, but after we took an educational approach by reminding them about the rules, they agreed to go back to Denpasar on Wednesday morning (12/5).” said Iptu Sumarjaya from Buleleng Police Department. Iptu Sumarjaya reminds the people to comply with the policies from the government as an effort to avoid Covid-19 cases to surge during the holiday season, especially during the preparation stage of reopening the international travel corridor.
