MEIMELALI.COM: Thief Bites Officers Hand While Resisting Arrest In Bali.
A 19-year-old man has bitten a police officer’s hand before getting arrested for stealing in several different areas in Bali.
The Head of the Sukawati Criminal Investigation Bureau, Iptu AA Alit Sudarma confirmed that prior to the arrest, the suspect attempted to resist by biting an officer’s hand. He also left his child at the scene as he panicked when he saw the police. “When the suspect saw us he immediately ran away and bit one of our officers before finally getting arrested.” Iptu Sudarma said on Wednesday (23/6).
After detaining the suspect, the officers were led to his house in Songan B Village, Kintamani and arrested a second suspect (aged 19) who is also his brother. “We pursued the suspect’s brother in Songan Village, Kintamani and finally arrested him before detaining both of them inside the Sukawati Police Department’s holding cell for further investigation.” Iptu Sudarma added. During the interrogation, both suspects admitted that they had been stealing cell phones in 14 different locations in Bali, and all of their targets were foreign nationals who rode motorbikes.
The investigation about this case came after an officer from Sukawati Police Department received a report from two Russian nationals who got their cell phones snatched on Jalan Raya Singapadu, causing the victims to fall from their vehicle. The suspects explained that they had been selling the stolen cellphones to people in Java such as Tangerang and Solo. Both suspects were once jailed for similar cases in 2019 and 2020. “The suspects have been detained and will potentially face 12 years imprisonment to be held responsible for what they have done.” Iptu Sudarma concluded.
