Meanwhile, the Head of the Jembrana Police Department, AKBP I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa explained that the ferry that transported dozens of passengers along with 40 vehicles sank on Bali Strait on Tuesday evening just before arriving at Gilimanuk Port.
According to the investigation, the incident was allegedly caused by large waves and a strong current that pushed the vessel further away to the south while the Ferry was waiting for its turn to approach the port. The waves that reached over 4 meters kept hitting the vessel, causing her to roll aside and sink. AKBP Adi Wibawa explained that he already opened a booth at Gilimanuk Port for the people who seek for updates regarding the missing passengers. He also stated that a rescue mission by the authorities to find the other victims is still underway.
