MEIMELALI.COM: Bali Officials Will Start Distributing The Covid-19 Vaccine To Children.
Bali officials have confirmed that they will start distributing the Covid-19 vaccine to Bali children once 70% of Bali residents are vaccinated.
Bali Regional Secretary, Dewa Made Indra confirmed that children from the age of 12 to 17 years old will start receiving the Covid-19 vaccine in the near future. “Children in Bali are expected to receive the Covid-19 vaccine when the current program to distribute 70% of Bali residents is finished as it’s also one of the requirements to achieve herd immunity among the people.” Made Indra said Wednesday (30/6).
Indra explained that the program was initiated to prevent Covid-19 transmissions from surging as 4,980 children in Bali have been confirmed positive with Covid since the pandemic struck in 2020. Meanwhile the Head of Udayana IX Military Health, Colonel Ckm Dr. I Made Mardika stated that he would support the program to distribute the vaccine to Bali children by providing medical workers to help distribute the vaccine at several vaccination sites in Bali.
Mardika also confirmed that Bali children are expected to receive the Covid-19 vaccine from Sinovac. “We will give massive support to this program by providing enough medical staff in multiple vaccination sites across the island, but for now we’re still waiting for further instruction from the central government.” Colonel Mardika said. However, Made Indra also explained that in-person learning at schools is still unable to be implemented in Bali as Covid cases have been surging in several areas. “In-person learning can be potentially implemented when all of the teachers are vaccinated to prevent creating new clusters at our schools.” Made Indra concluded.
